Q: The woman on your website all look like models. I am not "modelesque"...can I do this??
First of all, THANK YOU! I take that as a compliment of the highest degree because these women are not models. These ladies are everyday women, just like you. My job is to bring out the best in you, find the most flattering light, shape you and move you so that you too can have beautiful images you are proud of.
Q: How far in advance should I book my session?
I recommend your shoot date to be scheduled for about 2 months prior to needing the finished product in-hand. Also, being a one-woman show, I tend to book up very quickly and relatively far in advance. For weekday availability, you should email me to schedule a month in advance. Fridays tend to be the most popular time slots and book up the quickest. That said, DON'T WAIT to email me! It's never too early to get on my schedule.
Q: How long before I see my finished product?
Your photo reveal and ordering session will be scheduled for approximately 2-3 weeks after your photo session, and your finished product depending on what you order will arrive 3-6 weeks after that.
Q: What do your packages include? How much should I expect to spend?
The Heras & Company portrait experience starts at $360. That includes the photo shoot with Esmeralda Heras, professional-natural makeup application, the retouching of your images, the in-person photo viewing for you to view and order photo products a la carte and one 8x10 gallery matted image with the digital file in high resolution.
At your photo reveal appointment, you will receive a discounted price off of any items such as a reveal box, album, wall art, photo prints, and/or digital files.
Our packages are thoughtfully built based on our clients most frequent purchases, as well as the high demand and limited availability. Be sure to email to get a full list of our packages and a la carte pricing to see what product offerings are available at your photo reveal appointment.
Q: When and how will I select my favorite images from my shoot?
Heras & Company is proud to offer in-person (or remote for out-of-state clients) photo reveal and ordering appointments a few weeks after your photo session. We do this for a host of reasons::: First, for your convenience. We've gotten REALLY good at our little system for helping clients decide between images, showing similar images side by side for easy selection, and assisting clients with getting great variety for albums and the perfect wall art pieces. Because we do show a LOT of killer images, it can be overwhelming to navigate on your own and we don't want our customer service to stop at the photo shoot. The in-person photo reveal is much appreciated by our clients and is our favorite part of the whole process!
Second, this gives us the opportunity to make sure you images are to your satisfaction. We take pride in what we do and we want to see you be satisfied with our work. Also, many of our clients travel in from out of state for their sessions, and it just wouldn't be practical for them to come back in for their photo reveal appointment a few weeks later. We have a little work-around for this and can do a live photo reveal via Google Hangout screenshare. It's a bit less theatrical than our in-person viewings, but it is a great back-up option for those who cannot return without having to store any of your images online.
Q: Where will my photoshoot take place?
Heras & Company has a beautiful natural light studio in Oceanside that is private and spacious for us to create in.
Based on our consutation conversation, the studio will be set up with different backdrops and sets to move easily from one to the other.
Destination time slots are anounced to anyone on the email notification list and typically on the private Instagram page here.
Q: I see that you offer both beauty and budoir photography. Whats the difference?
Heras & Company specilizes in photographing women in all their strenght.
Budoir portraits involve a certain level of undress (lingerie, oungewear, other intimate apparel, or nothing at all). These portraits tend to be a little more raw and real (although we pose you through the entire shoot). This type of photography is meant to embrace a woman's sexuality, independance, femininity and boldness.
Beauty portraits are more polished with a fine art finished look and feel. This is a great option for a woman who may be a bit intimidated by baring it all but still want to feel sexy and classy. Wardrobe for a beauty session can be a ball gown, little black dress, bodysuits, fabric draping or even nude but with a much more demure perspective. Beauty portraits will showcase your face much more than the budoir portfolios do.
Q: What should I wear?
This is probably the most popular question I get….and the answer is simple…whatever you feel great in! Usually, I help style you according to who you want to see in your images. My signature style is a bodysuit, an oversized sweater, high waist panties, a robe, a white button up, a leather jacket or nude. In a 2 hour photoshoot session, you typically have time for up to 4 looks. once you've completed the booking process with me, you will also receive a detailed shoot guide that will help you with preparations and wardrobe considerations.
Q: Can I have someone with me at my session?
Sometimes your best friend is exactly what you need to calm your nerves and give you the reassurance you need to get started with your session! I friend is always welcomed at the shoot, provided they do not interfere with the process. I ask that boyfriends/husbands/spouces not be included int he photoshoot ( that is policy), a watching man changes the nature of the session.
Q: On which days of the week can I have my photo session?
We encourage you to take the day off of your regular schedule in order fully enjoy being pampered and feeling fabulous!
Q: What should I do to prepare for my photoshoot?
The beauty of being a Heras & Company client is, all of these questions are answered in COMPLETE detail for you in the Heras & Company Guide which is emailed to you shortly after booking your session. This will cover exactly how you should prepare your face, body, and mind for your photo shoot, as well as a complete list of resources for beauty appointments and wardrobe for your photo shoot! No question will remain unanswered. I pride myself on offering a senior EXPERIENCE to my clients...so expect a much longer process than just showing up to shoot and being done with it!
Q: Will you use my images on your website/blog/portfolio?
I, of course, would LOVE to use images from our session to show other women your amazing photos! HOWEVER, I also completely understand if you would like to savor these images and keep them for yourself. That said, I will not share unless you grant permission. The bottom line is: I will honor whatever level of privacy you would like. Many clients are so proud of their images that they give me full discretion to choose images for my portfolio others preffer to share only the annonimous ones. Just let me know where you stand on the topic and I will honor your wishes!
